this may be the most chaotic scene i will ever write. and nate dresses this visit up as an intimidation tactic like very much a 'stay out of my way and i'll stay out of yours' but the simple truth of it is that he just wanted to SEE drako again and they have this whole scene where it's tense and there's so much longing bc hello they ARE in love and they DO hate each other and they KNOW they cant have each other regardless of their feelings, but they're both right there and it's been so long and i just. i just cannot express how funny i find it but also just? the tension? the emotion? the yearning? like if u didnt see the tags the tent scene is basically: it has been an entire break between books AND seven chapters for the reader since drako and nate have interacted and it has been weeks for the characters themselves, and then drako arrives with kiva and their whole army and they form a massive fuck off camp with the brotherhood bc their two forces are allies now, and as drako is getting dressed in his tent to meet with the Brotherhood Higher Ups for what is bound to be a very uncomfortable political meeting, someone sneaks up behind him and puts a knife to his throat and drako just does not freak out bc he KNOWS it's nate.
